Dancing Beethoven’, an award-winning documentary by Spanish filmmaker, Mrs. Arantxa Aguirre is set to show in Abuja. It closely follows preparations made for a performance choreographed to the symphony, with many artists from a variety of countries taking part.
The documentary, which will be shown at Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja on December 3, is organised by the embassy of Spain in collaboration with the Zuma Film Festival and the Women for Africa Foundation. During the Spanish Day at the festival, Mrs. Aguirre will be participating at the Film Forum ‘African Women Telling their Stories’, after which she would present her film.
‘Dancing Beethoven’ won the Silver Spike in the SEMINCI 2016 Time of History Section. It has been described as “one of the most exquisite musical compositions of all time, the German composer’s ninth symphony, was turned into a ballet by Bejart Ballet Lausanne and the Tokyo Ballet.” The Japanese capital hosted it, accompanied by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta.
