Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, UDUS has graduated 322 medical laboratory scientists since the establishment of the faculty 14 years ago.
The acting Director, School of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Dr Abdullah Mainasara disclosed this at the swearing in ceremony of the 60 newly inducted medical laboratory scientists.
He said that 111 of them were female while the remaining were male, cutting across the states of the federation.
"Let me add here that, this university admits prospective applicants for training in this rare important field from all parts of the country irrespective of geopolitical, gender or other considerations. Only few universities can contest the national spread of our admission criteria," he added.
He called on the new inductees to use their talents and skills to serve as an important link between the patients and the clinicians by issuing laboratory results that would aid accurate clinical decision making.
In his remarks, the acting Registrar, Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, Tosan Erhabor saidthe inductees were equipped to take their rightful place in the societies, adding that they would be held accountable for their decision as precious lives would be entrusted in their care.
He warned them against "cutting corners".
