Dangote Cement Plc has said two of its trucks, carrying 900 bags of cement each from the Obajana cement plant, were wrongfully intercepted by security agents in Adamawa State.

The trucks were on their way to deliver the products to Jamtari in Maiha Local Government Area in Adamawa State based on a customer’s request.

The security agents had accused the drivers of attempting to export banned products to the Republic of Cameroon through the Adamawa routes.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had issued an executive order, banning the transportation of food and building materials across the country’s border via the Adamawa routes.

However, the company’s Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Mr Anthony Chiejina, denied the allegation, stating that Dangote Cement Plc has a functional cement plant in Cameroon.

Chiejina explained that the two trucks were delivering products to a customer, and the security agents did not pay attention to the details on the Waybill.

According to him, after the interception, the company’s officials were invited by the DSS Adamawa State to explain the true position of things.

“The officials were able to show the tracking movement of the trucks from the DCP Obajana to the point where they were arrested by the soldiers,” he said.
