The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, have been honoured with Awards of Excellence by the Commonwealth Institute of Advanced and Professional Studies, CIAPS, for their outstanding achievements in their respective sectors.

They received the awards alongside the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae; the teenager who emerged as the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals, Nafisah Abdullahi; and Tajudeen Akande of PKF Africa.

The Director of the Institute, Prof. Anthony Kila described the recipients as outstanding individuals whose contributions to the society deserve global recognition.

“It is important, at a time like this, to bring together academics, business leaders, security experts, and industry stakeholders to take stock of the year and find a theme that will make the next year better.

“To the awardees, we appreciate and recognise your efforts. This is not an award one applies or is nominated for, we identify and follow excellence, and that is how you were selected,” he added.

He explained that the awards form part of the institute’s efforts to inspire graduates to pursue excellence in their various professions.

“It is a symbiotic relationship — we use them to inspire our own graduates. Our belief is that, in no distant time, these graduates will be measured by the same standards of global success,” he said.

The Alara of Ilara Kingdom in Epe, Lagos State, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, emphasised the need to awaken a national conscience of excellence.

“In promoting excellence, we must build a culture of it — recognising those who have excelled not only nationally but also across the continent and the world. This is a good opportunity to celebrate them,” the monarch said.

He commended the organisers for their initiative, describing it as a laudable effort that would encourage others to emulate the spirit of excellence.

The monarch also urged the awardees to continue promoting Nigeria’s image on the global stage.
