Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, Petroleum minister Diezani Allison-Madueke, Niger Delta minister Godsay Orubebe, Labour minister Emeka Wogu, Trade & Investment minister Olusegun Aganga and National Planning minister Shamsudeen Usman made the list.
Dangote is on top of the list as the only one awarded the Grand Commander of the Niger (GCON), which is the second highest national honour.
There are also governors Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Patrick Yakowa (Kaduna), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Godswil Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Peter Obi (Anambra), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Adams Oshimhole (Edo), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Muazu Babangida Aliyu (Niger).
The ministers and the governors were given the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) awards.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal, Attorney-General of the Federation Bello Adoke, service chiefs, Inspector General of Police Haifz Ringim, Acting President of the Court of Appeal Justice Dalhatu Adamu and some retired military chiefs were awarded the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) medals.
Traditional rulers on the list include the Emir of Gombe, Lamido Adamawa, Olowo of Owo, Amanayabo of Kalabari and Emir of Bauchi, who got the CFR awards.
Literary icon Prof Chinua Achebe is listed for award of CFR, but it is not known if he would accept it, having turned down similar previous offers.
The list of the recipients is for the years 2010 and 2011, and the investiture ceremony is scheduled for Monday, November 31 in Abuja, according to a public notice issued by Mr. Adeyemo M. Tunde, Secretary of the National Honours Award Committee.
A breakdown of the categories shows that 41 persons would be honoured with CFR award, 67 would be given CON, 80 are for OFR,73 for OON, 69 for MFR, 28 for MON,1got GCON and 5 persons would be honoured in the Federal Republic Medal II (FRM II).
Nine serving governors and 11 former governors made the list, while about 13 present and former senators as well as five members of the House of Representatives are also listed for the award.
