Fielding questions from journalists, Dongote said he made the request for the land when he met with Governor Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, recently, in Minna, adding that the proposed investment will attract billions of Naira.
“The idea behind going into agriculture is to see how people from the northern part will be empowered. The proposed investment is not aimed at making profit instead it is for giving support to the poor from the north. Though, it does not mean this company will operate in a loss,” he said.
He said the state government has promised him that the requested size of land would be provided.
“The chief servant has asked us to wait, I am 100 percent sure that we will have a very good partnership,” he said.
Dangote said his company would largely invest in rice production and or sugar cane production.
Responding, Governor Aliyu said a suitable land for the proposed project would be provided.
Speaking, the state Commissioner of Agriculture, Ibrahim Ahmed Matane, said experts have conducted survey and mapped out the required size of land waiting for Dangote Group to ascertain the suitability or otherwise of the area.
