The Dangote Group has announced that it is partnering with key stakeholders to revitalise Nigeria’s agricultural sector, as it sponsors the 17th National Agricultural Show opening on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The company’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, in a statement stated that expanding mechanised farming remains central to boosting Nigeria’s GDP and creating meaningful employment opportunities for the country’s growing youth population.

He said the company’s renewed push into commercial agriculture aligns with national efforts to strengthen food security.

Chiejina described the theme of this year’s event — “Employing Smallholder Farmers: Restoring Value, Ensuring Productivity” — as timely and strategic.

He noted that restoring agriculture’s value offers Nigeria a pathway to economic renewal, job creation, and market stability.

The National Agricultural Show, long regarded as a flagship event in the country’s agricultural calendar, provides a platform to showcase innovation across the entire value chain.

As part of its agricultural investments, the Dangote Group is developing rice mills in Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Kebbi, and Sokoto States with a combined milling capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum. This effort is aligned with the federal government’s drive toward achieving food sufficiency.

Senior Adviser to the President of the Dangote Group, Mrs. Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, said the company is also heavily investing in backward-integration projects within the sugar sub-sector in Nasarawa and Adamawa States.

She added that the Group’s fertilizer complex in Lagos, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, produces three million metric tonnes of urea annually — a major contribution to Nigeria’s agricultural productivity.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria, Arc Kabiru Adamu, commended the Dangote Group for its unwavering support, describing it as the Show’s “greatest ally since inception.” Adamu, who also serves as President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), urged the Group to channel more of its success toward strengthening agriculture after its achievements in the oil and gas sector.

He added that this year’s edition is expected to record a significant turnout of machinery manufacturers, processors, researchers, as well as youth and women farmers, all rallying to support Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.
