Oba Adetona boasted that the area had all resources to make it an envy of other states in the country when created.At the annual Ojude-Oba Day celebration held at the palace of Ijebuland’s monarch on Sunday, the duo declared that necessary support had been solicited to actualize the creation of the new state before the next political dispensation. Daniel, who was the guest of honour at the celebration said that the quest for the creation of Ijebu state was long over due assuring that politicians from Ogun east senatorial zone should set aside their differences to fight for the actualization Ijebu state.

“For the first time, we shall put our political differences aside. The agitation for Ijebu state will be achieved by all without political lineage. The unity we have shown today should be sustained to make this dream a reality.”

The governor who observed that there exist divergent views on the creation, however maintained that, “such slight differences can be resolved to get the creation of Ijebu state. I stand before you today to say that I will serve as a bridge between Ijebu and Remo and we shall speak with one voice,” Daniel declared.

The governor, who went down memory lane on the resilient posture of the people of Ijebu against colonial repression, urged that the people should “again answer the clarion call on this new agenda by collectively showing our support. With the successful hosting of the Under 17 World Cup where the Ijebu sub-seat was adjudged the best hosting centre, I have no doubt that Ijebu will soon be a state capital.”

The paramount ruler in his address also gave assurance that all necessary machinery had been deployed to the actualization of the creation of the new state. The traditional ruler who spoke philosophically declared to the gathering that, “I got the spirit that Ijebu state is around the corner,” adding that, when created it would also be worthy of emulation among other states in the federation.

The chairman of the occasion, Rev. Jide Awosedo who is from Remo area, where the dissenting view on the creation was coming from assured that the people are set and ready for the creation of the new Ijebu state. He stressed that the socio-economic development expected to come surpassed the differences being expressed in some quarters on the issue. A major uniqueness in the annual celebration this year was the general use of a local fabric (ankara) with the map of the proposed Ijebu state by all and sundry.
