Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi, says it has commenced training of 100 unemployed youths on various skills acquisition.
Hajiya Tsahara Wasagu, the Sole Administrator of the council, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Wasagu on Thursday.
She said that the six-month training involved 50 males and 50 females, adding that it was being conducted at the local government skills acquisition centre aimed at promoting self reliance and reduce poverty and unemployment.
Wasagu further said the youth would be trained on Jelly making, leather works, weaving, knitting, tailoring and computer literacy skills.
The sole administrator also told NAN that the council had registered 5,000 farmers to undertake training in Soya beans production.
She said after the training, the participants would be provided with seed, capital and working tools to enable them establish their businesses.
She said her administration would give priority to agriculture, education, health and security, adding, “we are committed to diversifying our economy to agriculture to promote to food security.’’
Wasagu commended Gov. Atiku Bagudu for considering women like her worthy of being appointed sole administrators and councillors in the local government administration in the state.
She promised to lead the council ‘’with an unprecedented difference’’, especially in terms of provision of social amenities and entrenching prudence and accountability.
Wasagu is among the three local government female sole administrators, appointed by the state government for Argungu, Aliero and Danko/Wasagu Local Government Areas.
