Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo  has presented a budget proposal of N76,546,912,032.94 billion to the state House of Assembly for the 2016 fiscal year.
Presenting the Budget of Consistency and Transformation, Dankwambo said the recurrent expenditure for the 2016 budget was N42.565 billion while the capital expenditure is N34,443 billion. He explained that the estimated expenditure was to be financed from an expected revenue of N42.565 billion and capital receipts of N34.91 billion.
The governor said, “We anticipate a budget of N351,842,032.92 for the year which  either shall be covered by borrowing or appropriate expenditure adjustment,”  adding that the consolidated revenue fund charges is N13,896 billion, personnel cost N16,415 billion, over head cost N11,791 and transfer to capital development N461,917.”The expenditure breakdown as read by the governor showed that education has the largest share of N6.200 billion for the basic education sub sector, and N1.100 billion for higher education; followed by works and infrastructure allocated N6,511 billion.
Health is allocated N2.668 billion, and water gets N2.656 billion. N1.320 was earmarked for environment, agriculture was allocated  N1.887billion, forestry N1.320billion, and livestock and fisheries N200,200,000. Other sectors and their allocations in the budget are: rural development N1.220 billion; science and minerals development N135 Million,  trade and Industry N135 million,  housing and transport, N1.617 billion, among others.
Responding to the governor’s presentation, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Nasiru Abubakar Nono assured the determination of the lawmakers to work with the Executive for the development of the state.
