A former Senate President, David Mark, has said that he would henceforth having attained the age of 70 continue to pray for peace in Nigeria.

Mark made the remark during a thanksgiving service to mark his 70th birthday at St Augustine Catholic Church in Otukpo, Benue State.

He also said that he would review his personal relationship with God over the years to see his shortcomings and make possible amends.

"At 70, I will continue to pray for peace from now onwards. I will pray for peace for the country. I will pray for justice, equity and the various ethnic groups. I will pray for troubled spots of the country," Mark said.

Earlier, the officiating Bishop of Otukpo Diocese,  Most Revd. Apochi Michael, in his sermon, lamented the continued killings of people across the state as he stressed that the story of Nigeria needed conversion.

In a remark, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, eulogised Mark for his outstanding qualities over the years which contributed to the stability of the senate while he held sway as its president.

Similarly, his bosom friend, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, paid glowing tributes to Mark who he said has been his friend for the past 56 years.

The service was attended by former governors including Dr. Gabriel Suswam, Peoples’ Democratic Party stalwart both at National and state levels as well as other prominent citizens of the country.
