The show was the fifth edition of a concert that has come to serve as a point of celebration in the New Year for residents of the capital city. The 2010 edition had in attendance notable comedians such as Dr Ayuba, who was the master of ceremony at the event; Wahala; Onome Da Saint; CFR; the Guvnor; Fred Bright; I go Sey and a host of other upcoming comedians Tony One Week, Soul E were on ground to thrill the aidience with their music. Two musicians that hugged the limelight on the day were the Gully Ryda duo and Kevin the ‘Swagger exponent’ amidst a phalanx of other guest artistes.

The high point of the show was probably when the chief organiser of the event, Youngest Old Man, thrilled the audience nonstop with his witty comments and rib-cracking jokes. He thanked the audience for the support they had rendered to him from the inception of the programme in the nation’s capital, stating that the edition for next year promises to be more power-packed and interesting than the current year’s.

The event which was put together by Blazers, a foremost entertainment outfit in the capital city, had in attendance some members of some state assemblies in the south-eastern part of the country. The current Face of the North, Etsu Jane, was equally present. Vocal TV presenter, Imoni Amarere, also graced the occasion and was greeted with excited hoots by the audience when he was introduced by the MC.

‘Comedy Overdose’ started in 2006 and ever since has become a yearly event attended by lovers of humour. On the first of every year, they are treated to the best of comedy spiced by music from top-rated artistes and promising young ones. The 2010 edition was sponsored by Daar Communications, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Drumstix, Chicken Capitol and Chanchangi Airlines.

Youngest Old Man, whose real name is Rowland Igbadumhe, told Weekly Trust that, “2010 promises to be a great year for me. It is going to be great by God’s grace. I will be everywhere with my shows – Lagos, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Owerri and other major cities that we are still working on. I also have about four shows that are set. They are going to hold in the UK; Dublin, Ireland and in Switzerland.”

He equally promised his numerous fans that he’ll reveal the music side of him: “I am trying to promote my music to show that I also have talent in music and not just comedy. My fans will soon get to know that there is more to me. In one word, I am an entertainer,” he said.
