Ugolee, the pioneer of New School Naija hip hop, has been suffering from the disease for over three years and has called upon his celebrity friends and those dealing with the ailment to draw attention to it.
Nigerian showbiz personalities from the music, movie, comedy and media industries supported the cause. They included Desmond Elliot, Monalisa Chinda, Audu Maikori, Modenine, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Sound Sultan, Yaw, Omawunmi, Praiz, Senator, Manny, Bobby Michaels, AY, Julius Agwu and Bovi among others.
Maikori, Elliot, Obi-Uchendu and Chinda, who spoke on behalf of the celebrities, expressed their willingness to keep supporting the cause and celebrated years of their relationships with Ugolee as they recounted his contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Ugolee appealed that dialysis should be free in Nigeria as it is in Ivory Coast. He announced the immediate commencement of phase two of the awareness campaign tagged: ‘Talk against kidney disease,’ where he and other celebrities, would take the awareness to radio and TV talk shows.
