When Barrister and playwright, Isaac Attah Ogezi gathered literary friends for a thank you luncheon, also tagged ‘Writers’ Parley’, perhaps not everyone expected it to be a 

The event took place at the Korean Cultural Centre, Central Business District, Abuja. 

It was a gathering of poets, playwrights and novelists and several other guests and friends of Ogezi who read from their works. These included Salamatu Sule, who read from her children’s storybook, ‘Oma the Drummer Queen’, Mrs. Chinyere Obi-Obasi, also from her children’s book, ‘The Loyal Queen’.

Dr. Seyi Adigun also read from his 2017 poetry collection, ‘A Child of Smell’, Theresa Ameh from her children’s book, ‘Aunty Talatu’, a poetry/musical performance by Dr. Emman Shehu, and Professor Dul Johnson from his ‘Across the Gulf’.

The poet, Ahmed Maiwada read from his latest collection, ‘We’re Fish’ and E.E. Sule from his forthcoming novel.

Two NLNG Prize winners Ikeogu Oke, winner of the 2017 prize (poetry) and Abubakar Adam Ibrahim (prose) read from their work-in-progress. Oke from what he called hiphop poetry in honour of late rapper Tupac Shakur, and Ibrahim an untitled Short Story.

What would have been another highlight of the occasion, the announcement of shortlist of the 8th Korea Poetry Festival Contest 2018, didn’t take place.
