The Rehab Road – which is about three kilometres from the Oye Emene Market Square – leading to the Umuchigbo-III-Nike community, where the Adoration Ministry is sited – is like hell on earth. Mbaka himself confirmed this to Mrs. Jonathan. The deplorable condition of the road is regarded by the church’s followers as a minus for the Governor Chime government, which has been widely praised for building roads in the state, according to natives of the community.
Describing the bad road as “hell or purgatory,” Mbaka told Mrs. Jonathan, “If the ministry had not used a grader to work on the road you would have needed a bulldozer to carry you from Oye Emene Market to this Adoration Ministry because that is the only thing that would have been able to drive on the road. Please, when you go back to Abuja, tell Mr. President that there is no road connecting Enugu to this ministry.”  
The historic event, said to have been made possible by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekeremadu, was scheduled for 9:00am, but it was not until about 12:05pm that the First Lady was ushered onto the podium of the Adoration Ministry amidst tight security.
Mrs. Jonathan did the first reading, which was taken from Genesis 12: 2-3. “… I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall families of the earth be blessed.”
Mbaka said he was humbled by the presence of Mrs. Jonathan at the Adoration Ministry, noting that the congregation would even “like you to remain here and live with us so that Jonathan will become an Enugu man.”
He said further, “We are happy that you are here today. I am happy that Senator Ekweremadu did all he could to bring you here. Without Ekweremadu you will not be here today.”
Pointing at the deputy president of the Senate, he urged him to continue to support President Jonathan. “Ikeoha (Ekweremadu’s traditional title) will continue to support Mr. President. We will continue to support Jonathan. God made it possible for this man, coming from the oil land of the Niger Delta to become the president of Nigeria for the first time.”
On Nigeria, The Rev Fr Mbaka said despite the security and other challenges facing the nation now, the country will still triumph. “This country is in the hand of God. They (the troublemakers) can’t even destroy it unless God says yes,” he said.
Mbaka later released four pigeons, which he said would fight for Jonathan. “The four birds symbolise the four regions of Nigeria – East, West, North and South. I am releasing them to go and fight for Jonathan,” he said as the birds flew into the air.
Responding, the president’s wife said she was humbled and encouraged by the spiritual regeneration she experienced at the Adoration Ministry, stressing that the importance of prayer in the life of a Christian cannot be overemphasised. She added that she was still alive today by the grace of God and the prayers of Nigerians.
Recalling how God saved her life and gave her “a second chance” when she went abroad for medical treatment, she told the congregation, “Who am I to pass through those horrible things, but God still gave me a second chance. May God give me the chance to continue praising Him because without Him I won’t be alive today.”
She appealed to Nigerian mothers to always bring up their children in the fear and love of God so that they would become useful and law-abiding citizens. “As a mother I feel the pains of conflicts. Let us all work together to make our country and continent a peaceful one. Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God. Peace in our country is a responsibility to all of us and a task that must not be left for the government alone. Conflicts can only reverse our democratic gains and breed insecurity,” she added.
In his brief remark, the deputy president of the Senate, Ike Ekeremadu told the congregation: “About four weeks ago, I was here to receive anointing before we started the political events. I thank you for your prayers because God received your prayers for me. I promised that I would bring the wife of the president, and here she is.”
To cap her appreciation to the audience, the First Lady said she neither had silver nor gold to give to the Adoration women but bags of rice previously offloaded from a trailer.
“I have no silver and gold to give you but these bags of rice. Please just share them like that. Other trailers are on the way with more bags of rice,” she said.
Responding to the clergyman’s appeal on the state of the road, she said, “I heard what you said about the road leading to this place. It is not everything that I will say in public because people may misinterpret my statement. However, we will meet privately with Senator Ekweremadu before I leave.”
