President of the association, Chief Josephart Ikuku Adinnu made the call in his address at the commissioning of an ultra modern secretariat of the association which was built in Maiduguri.

He said pick up vans purchased by his members are basically used to deliver goods to customers and not for commercial purposes, but tax collectors have since formed the habit of harassing the drivers for multiple taxes; a development he said, has become a serious source of concern to the dealers who were finding the levies unbearable.

 “One of our major challenges is the harassment received from the state government pick up van revenue task force collectors. The way and manner the so called task force harass our members conveying purchased goods to customers is now a major concern to our union. We use this opportunity to appeal to the state governor to intervene over this issue since most of these goods are delivered free,” the President urged.

The President thanked governor Sheriff and the Shehu of Borno who is the association’s grand patron, for their roles in promoting ethno-religious tolerance in the state which gave rise to peace and healthy business environment.
