When two elephants fight, it is always the grass that suffers. This is exactly the scenario in my beloved Kano state. The current state of political hostility between the two major power figures of the state has not only caught the attention of many observers but it also a thing of shame to all well-meaning Kano citizens regardless of his/her social class or position.

The constant rift between these two political giant can be seen by a common man as the devils work. However to a sane minded person, their frequent media war that has escalated to fisticuffs   in recent times is a by-product of the hand work of political juice squeezers who have picked a hole in the frosty relationship between the two politicians. It can be remembered that these two politicians have an almost father and son relationship to the extent of one handing the governorship baton to the other. What could have gotten wrong that both parties can no longer co-relate and their die- hard fans fight each other at every given opportunity?

Though several attempts have made to douse the tension, there is still more to be done as the conflict is still lingering.

This continuous misunderstanding is now a thing of concern and a slap an every Kano loving person as it will reverse the development of the state in all ramifications. This crisis will lead to slow party policy development and implementation of planned dividends of democracy. Worst of all, it may lead to the defeat of the party in the forthcoming election as a house divided against itself cannot stand. Thus, it is paramount that all members of the state ruling party and even on the national level need to come to the aid of Kano polity. We should all bear in mind the importance of Kano in general elections and a general election is just around the corner. As such, trivial and personal issues should not be allowed to linger at the expense of the party’s grip on the state.

Personally, I feel it is time people like me who actually love and have strong passion for the development and progress of Kano state intervene by calling the attention of our elders and major stakeholders to step in and restore lasting peace and sanity in the polity of our dear state. When such is not done, it could lead to possible decay in social interaction which could further degenerate to the level of making things fall apart. When the centre as represented by these two political pillars cannot be maintained, it is inevitable that things will surely fall apart in no distant future.

I have always seen politics as a platform that one can use to build and create a good image for his society and not a forum for vengeance and personal vendetta. Like other states, we in Kano should be planning seriously on how to maintain decorum.

I have always been and forever will be proud to say Kano is my city and my state. I therefore seek the attention of all the elders of our state, His Royal Highness, the Emir, the statesmen, the ulamas and all concerned individuals to put hands on deck to bring to an end this political madness that can lead to disaster.
