The Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in the first match of the 2026 Unity Cup match at The Valley stadium in London.

Femi Azeez scored both goals of the encounter to give a new look Nigeria side the win against their Southern Africa opponent on his national team debut.
Terem Moffi captained the side, and coach Eric Chelle also handed debut to Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, as defending champions Nigeria looked to book their ticket to final of the four-nation tournament.

Azeez, who plies his trade in England with Millwall, put Nigeria in front in the fifth minute with a thunderbolt from 18 yards out. The London-born forward doubled the lead on 63 minutes to seal a comfortable win for Nigeria following good work from Moffi who cut the pass back to Azeez centrally in the box, and the left footer did the rest to send fans into carnival mode.
Victory continued Nigeria’s dominant unbeaten streak against the Warriors, extending the record to seven matches, and secured a first clean sheet against them since 2019.
Nigeria will face the winner of the second semifinal match between the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica and India, on Saturday, May 30.
The Super Eagles seek to continue its dominance of the Unity Cup, bidding to win the tournament for a third consecutive time after claiming the first two editions.
