President of the NLC Comrade Ayuba Wabba in his Sallah goodwill message to Nigerians said “wanton cases of corruption, greed and indulgence of public office holders make the citizens to lose confidence in our public servants” urging them to act positively to redress “our numerous socio-economic and political problems to regain and reclaim the people’s confidence.”
Wabba urged governments at all levels to earn the confidence of Nigerians through enthroning social justice, provision of gainful employment, improved security, improved standard of living improved health and qualitative education.
Speaking on the Sallah festivities, Wabba said the congress identifies “with millions of our Muslim faithful across the length and breadth of our country on the occasion of the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Fitri.
“The congress urges Nigerians to imbibe the noble spiritual values and virtues of the Eid-el-Fitri, which include self-denial, chastity, sacrifice, forgiveness, sharing and giving.
“The end of the month long Ramadan fasting and purification period offers us a unique opportunity to reflect not only on our personal lives but also on the teachings of the holy book and our obligations to it.”
