Adamu, who is the Wakilin Adamawa argued that Nigerians must see themselves as one people and accept that the nation cannot move forward if parts of it are sick.
“Seven percent of the total revenue accrued from crude oil should be dedicated to a master plan for the northeast to address those issues. First and foremost the desert encroachment, secondly job creation and thirdly for peace and tranquility in the region.
“We should be our brother’s keepers.  Like I said also, I have no problem with adjusting any figure for the Niger Delta but it must be tied down for a special master plan for the northeast and we believe in harmony and peace for the interest of the stability and fairness and equity in this country,” he said.
Speaking on the need for the intervention, he said “the justification for this demand is that an entire one third of Nigeria is on fire; the economy destroyed, there is insecurity, people’s lives and properties are being lost and there is no way you can have a strong and united country when one third of the country is on fire. It is in the interest of this country that we feel that all parts of Nigeria are being looked after.”
He added “Mr. Chairman, our wives and children have been abducted, our economy has been destroyed and left in here we have not created funds Marshall Plan for the north of Nigeria. If we say that we are our brothers’ keepers, Mr. Chairman, I suggest that seven percent be dedicated for Marshall Plan for the northeast of Nigeria.”
He said the management of the fund should be in the hands of a special committee set up by the Federal Government and it should be “judiciously used and I stress the word judiciously so that the impact will be felt and then there will be peace and tranquility in Nigeria.”
