Delta govt approves N312m for students scheme

The Delta State Government has approved the sum of N312.4 million as bursary for students in tertiary institutions who applied for the 2017/2018 academic session.

The state’s Student Special Assistance Scheme is for students of the state origin.

The state commissioner for Information, Ogbueshi Patrick Ukah, disclosed this in a statement after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the government house, Asaba, recently.

He said the amount required by the State Bursary and Scholarship Board to successfully implement the 2017/2018 scheme was approved at the Exco meeting presided over by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Ukah also revealed that the sum of N473.8 million, being the balance of the state counterpart funding for the Universal Basic Education, was also approved by the EXCO.
