Delta: Police Intercept Truck, Arrest Driver Over Alleged Drug Trafficking

Operatives of the  Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered large quantity of illicit drugs in the State.

The suspect, identified as Obinna Nwosu, 47, Was reportedly arrested on June 3, 2026, by the Special Enquiry Unit of the command following intelligence report.

The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, in a statement, said the suspect was arrested during stop-and-search operation at the first Niger Bridge head, in Asaba.

He said the operatives intercepted a Mercedes truck with registration number KRV 837 ZN driven by the suspect, who resides at Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to him, duiring interrogation, the suspect claimed to be transporting plumbing materials but a  search of the vehicle led to the recovery of large illicit drugs.

He listed the seized drugs to include 13,000 sachets of 100mg of Tramadol,100 sachets of 225mg of Tramadol, 100 sachets of Swinol, 300 sachets of Rohypnol, 60 sachets of Codeine Phosphate tablets, and 100 tablets of Methylenedioxy and methamphetamine (MDMA), popularly known as “Molly”.

Edafe said the suspect had been taken into custody while investigations was ongoing to identifying other persons connected to the illicit consignment.
