Representing the state, swimmers from St. George’s Grammar School, Obinomba, defeated other swimmers from the American, British and Italian International schools by pooling 233 points.

The boys from the Local Government Primary School, Majidun, Lagos and American International School, also of Lagos, came second and third with 169 and 157 points respectively.

The two-day swimming competition for schools featured 500 participating kids from 60 schools across 15 states of the federation.

Five-year old pupil whose swimming prowess left fans spellbound won for herself a scholarship from the Ebosi Fundation, the sponsor of the swimming tournament.

Speaking at the end of the tourney, Chairman Ebosie Fundation Board of Trustees, Dapo Elias, called on the Ministry of Sports to give more attention to swimming, saying the game is capable of winning many medals for Nigeria in international tournaments.
