The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA) has urged people of Kogi to demand accountability and transparency from their leaders.

This is as the group called on President Bola Tinubu to address Governor Usman Ododo’s alleged protection of ex-Governor Yahaya Bello, who is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Recall that officials of the EFCC had laid a siege to Bello’s Abuja residence, where they wanted to arrest him.

But Ododo arrived at the scene and hours after he drove out. There were reports that Bello had sneaked out with him.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Ibrahim Dan-Musa, NEYGA accused Ododo of abusing his immunity to shield Bello from arrest.

“Ododo’s actions are a slap in the face of President Tinubu’s anti-corruption efforts. Corruption must not be allowed to fight back and undermine our collective efforts to build a just and equitable society,” said Dan-Musa.

The group called on the people of Kogi to reject politicians who prioritize personal interests over citizens’ welfare.

NEYGA reiterated its support for the EFCC and its commitment to fighting corruption at all levels, vowing to monitor the situation in Kogi State closely.

“Unity and solidarity are crucial in overcoming corruption and building a better future for all,” it said.
