Demerits of e-based test in mass communication exams

To be a successful mass communicator, good writing culture and adequate presenting skills should come in handy. Though proficiency in computer handling is also essential, but e-based tests reduce skill acquisition endeavour in the students of Mass Communication. It discourages the students from reading wider and reviewing literatures which are the prerequisites in communication acumen. Students are tend to be insolent in their reading habits once the think all they have to do is ‘clicking clicking’ which lasts for less than hour. Creativity plays little or no role in the e-system,  that is why some students that are good in cramming entertain the system.

These problems contribute woefully to the menace of e-exams in mass Communication career. The course is all about creativity which can be achieved by vibrancy in reading, writing and speaking. Therefore, the National University Commission (NUC) and Federal Government should take radical action to this issue to avoid deterioration of communication system in the nation.
