Despite bumper harvest of beans, price rises in Taraba

Despite bumper harvest recorded by beans’ farmers in Taraba State, price of  the commodity  is on the increase.

Findings by the North East Trust revealed that farmers across the state have witnessed bumper harvest of white beans  compared to previous years.

A farmer, Madam Rabi Yakubu, said it has been long since they had a high yield of white beans.

Another farmer, Dauda Suleiman said in the past years, pests attacks and sudden seizure of rainfall resulted in poor yield.

However, findings revealed that  a 100 kg bag of white beans is sold at between N28,000 to N39,000 across Taraba rural markets as against N16,000 to N20,000 sold last year.
