Health brand Dettol has donated its hygiene products to Ogun state in support of the state’s fight against Covid-19.

The items had to be sent over in lieu of a formal handover as Ogun entered a lockdown.

The donation feeds into the state’s stimulus package of relief materials to be distributed to 500,000homes across the state, targeting vulnerable people impacted by the outbreak.

Ogun is among 14 states to have recorded Covid-19 infections, four so far. It has been on lockdown since April 3.

The state governor Dapo Abiodun has said the pack will include staple food items, essential hygiene products—hand sanitizers produced by the Ogun State Ministry of Health, antibacterial soaps, stain removers and water packs.

The goal of the exercise is to keep families in the best condition during the compulsory stay-at-home period.

“RB is proud to support Ogun State Government’s stimulus package and the distribution of relief materials to citizens across the state during the lockdown,” said Dayanand Sriram, general manager for Reckitt Benckiser West Africa, which manufactures the product.

“This contribution is in line with Dettol’s decades-long efforts to curb the spread of infectious diseases caused by bacteria and viruses, as well as the promotion of good hygiene practices in Nigeria. We will continue to support the Federal and State Governments, as well as the health authorities’ efforts in the fight against COVID-19.”
