DFY WIN Brings Hope and Joy to Sunday Stephen Mirian Orphanage
In line with our company’s belief that “Every Life Matters — Touching Hearts, Changing Futures,” DFY WIN WEST AFRICA LIMITED visited the Sunday Stephen Mirian Orphanage at No. 14 Aladipupo Oluwole, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, bringing gifts, love, and encouragement to the children.
This visitation carried a special significance.among the children we met was Esther, the 12-year-old girl whose story touched many hearts last year June 2024 after she was brutally maltreated by her 32-year-old aunt. We were deeply moved to see that the Lagos State Government had kept its promise to provide her with safety and care.
Arrival & Warm Welcome
The DFY WIN team arrived in the afternoon in the orphanage at 3pm, placing the company’s banners and offloading donated items. The event began with a prayer led by Sonia, followed by a welcome address from the translator, and speeches by the Regional Manager, Mr. Lee, and Team Lead, Vivian.
Children from the orphanage joyfully sang and recited Bible memory verses, creating a heartwarming atmosphere before the formal introductions of the DFY WIN team and our partner bloggers.
Stories That Touch the Heart
The visit revealed powerful stories about how each child found their way to the orphanage:
- Marvelous – Kidnapped at just 1 month old alongside two others, rescued by the government at 9 months old.
- Lola and Ayo – Born to a mother who later developed a mental illness; brought into care for safety.
- Obi – Same case as Lola and Ayo, rescued under government protection.
- Flourish and Great – Parents unable to care for them due to personal and financial struggles.
- Joseph – Found wandering at age 4; rescued by a stranger who took him to the police.
- Sarah and Melody – Sold into slavery by their parents and severely maltreated; rescued after a neighbor reported the abuse.
- Melody: Escaped after her father threatened to kill her and sought help from the police.
- Noble and Miracle – Lost their father; transferred from another orphanage for better care.
- Esther – The 12-year-old survivor of domestic abuse, now under safe care thanks to the government’s intervention.
One common truth stood out — most of these children are not orphans because their parents passed away, but because of neglect, abuse, and a lack of capacity to provide proper care.
DFY win’s Message to the Children
Speaking to the children by Regional Manager Mr. Lee encouraged them:
“Your past does not define your future. Focus on what’s ahead, not behind you. Every one of you has a bright tomorrow waiting and we believe in you.”
He reinforced the company’s mission: “Every Life Matters ,Touching Hearts, Changing Futures.”
