Narrating his story, Sunusi said after taking the TB medication, the disease had healed according to clinical investigation, but the diabetes has persisted.  A student of Kano State Polytechnic as well as a photographer, Sunusi is lying at home after he had sustained a leg fracture.

He said he was left at home because his father who would have paid for his medical bills is himself incapacitated by sickness and his mother was just a house wife with little or no source of income.

In his thirties, Sunusi said the disease had caused his legs to shrink making them so weak and insensitive, saying it was the condition that led to his slipping and sustaining the fracture.

His problem now, according to him, is how he could have access to medical care. As he wallows at home with no medication and no assistance, his condition is deteriorating by the day. “My problem now is that I’m just lying at home, I cannot go to the hospital because I don’t have the means and every blessed day, my condition is becoming worse,” he said.

He added. “My parents cannot help me because my father is also incapacitated by illness and my mother has nothing to offer. It was through my photography business that I was taking care of the family but since I developed this ailment with all the complications, everything has stopped.”

Looking pale and fragile with swollen feet, Sunusi prayed he could get some assistance that would afford him good medication.
