Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has offered scholarships to students from the state studying Mathematics and Agricultural Science at the state owned University of Africa (UAT), Toro-Orua.
The governor, who announced this during the third matriculation ceremony of the university, said his government’s investment in education has helped in fighting criminality, militancy, and other anti-social vices in the state.
Dickson called politicians to make more investments in education to equip the youths with necessary skills that would make them compete favourably in a technologically-driven economy.
According to him, education remains the surest way to liberating the people from the shackles of poverty, criminality, ignorance, and disease that had been plaguing them.
