Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has asked chairmen and members of the Post Primary Education Board and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to pay attention to the training of teachers.

A press statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Francis Ottah Agbo, quoted him as making the call during the inauguration of Dr. Asiam Blessing Ikuru, as chairman, PPEB and Pius Jonah as chairman of SUBEB.

The governor said: “The boards will train and retrain teachers; they will also be in charge of quality control and determine or set the template to gauge the quality of our educational system.

“Any teacher that does not pass the certification test of the boards is not fit to be a teacher here and should therefore go elsewhere to teach.”
