The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has received commendations from diplomats and foreign guests who participated in a rail journey as part of activities marking the globally celebrated Egbaliganza Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The visitors, drawn from different parts of the world, were conveyed on the Lagos–Abeokuta corridor, where they experienced firsthand the comfort, efficiency, and cultural connection offered by Nigeria’s modern rail system.

The special train ride formed a key highlight of the festival, seamlessly blending tourism with transportation while showcasing Nigeria’s evolving railway infrastructure.

Speaking during the trip, several of the foreign guests expressed admiration for the smooth ride, quality of service, and the scenic experience along the route.

They noted that the train journey not only provided convenience but also offered a unique perspective of Nigeria’s landscape and urban development, describing it as both relaxing and memorable.

The diplomats also commended the Nigerian Railway Corporation for its role in promoting cultural tourism through strategic collaboration with event organisers. According to them, integrating rail transport into major cultural festivals such as Egbaliganza presents a sustainable and efficient model for managing large-scale movement of people while enhancing visitors’ experience.

The rail journey, which conveyed participants from Lagos to Abeokuta and back, added colour and prestige to the festival.

Many of the guests described the initiative as innovative, noting that it reflects Nigeria’s readiness to position rail transport as a viable alternative for tourism and economic activities.

The Egbaliganza Festival, held at the historic Ake Palace of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III, has grown into a major cultural event celebrating Egba heritage, fashion, and tradition. The inclusion of a rail component further underscored the festival’s expanding global appeal and organisational sophistication.
