The Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD Nigeria) has elected Otunba Adetunji Adetokunbo Oyebanji, as its 19th President and Chairman of the Governing Council.
His election followed the successful completion of tenure by Alhaji Tijjani M. Borodo, who served the Institute with distinction over the past two years.
The election took place at the Institute’s 41st Annual General Meeting held on Thursday, 26th June 2025 at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Director General/Chief Executive Officer of CIoD Nigeria, Mr. Dele Alimi said, “Otunba Oyebanji, a Fellow of the Institute and MD/CEO of 11PLC emerged as President following a duly conducted election.

“He is an astute boardroom executive who has served the Institute in several key capacities, including as First and Second Vice President, Chairman of the Finance & General-Purpose Committee, and Chairman of the Membership and Branch Development Committee.”
He added, “We are delighted to welcome Otunba Oyebanji into this new leadership role. His wealth of experience, deep knowledge, and longstanding commitment to CIoD Nigeria will no doubt strengthen our mission to advance sound corporate governance and ethical business practices across the country.”
Otunba Adetunji Adetokunbo Oyebanji brings over four decades of leadership experience in the oil and gas industry. A graduate of Economics from the University of Lagos and an MBA alumnus of Bayes Business School, London, he has held senior executive roles at Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc and currently serves as MD/CEO of 11plc.
The immediate past President who spoke at the AGM described his tenure as eventful.
He said, “The Institute isn’t just strong; it’s on a vibrant trajectory, truly poised for even greater impact and influence under the incoming leadership. The foundations we’ve laid together are solid, and the path forward is clear.
