Diri sworn in for second term as Bayelsa governor

Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, have been sworn in for a second term in office.

The oaths of allegiance and office, which were administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, at the swearing-in ceremony at Sampson Siasia stadium in Yenagoa on Wednesday, was witnessed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Liberian Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, state governors and other prominent Nigerians.

Speaking after taking the oath of office, Governor Diri promised to address potable water distribution challenges via a comprehensive approach that focuses on efficient utilisation and equitable access to utilities in his second term.
