The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Plateau Chapter, has pleaded with Plateau Govt. to considers its members for teaching appointments in primary schools.

The Chairman, Mr Seth Attah, made the appeal on Wednesday in Jos, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the association presented 33 qualified candidates for consideration for teaching positions at the primary school level and has not received any positive response.

“We wish to appeal to Gov. Simon Lalong to intervene by directing the State Universal Basic Education Board management to give prompt consideration for the 33 names compiled by the association.

“ The SUBEB management is shunning our request,’’ he alleged.

Attah also appealed to Gov. Lalong to constitute the membership of the Plateau Disability Commission, with at least two permanent members and a chairman from the Community of Persons with Disabilities.

“ We appeal to the governor to constitute the membership of the Disability Commission with at least two permanent members whose chairman should be from the Community of Persons with Disabilities.

“We appeal for functional vehicles for the five associations of people with disabilities and monthly or yearly subvention, as done in states like Nassarawa, Kaduna and Bauchi, among others,“ he said.(NAN)
