A convincing 4-1 home win over Kaduna United Thursday in a rescheduled game has shot ‘The People’s Elephant’ to sixth place on the table with 54 points from 34 matches.

“We won well on Thursday but I think we were on the lucky side because the Kaduna boys, who hit Aba around 10pm on Wednesday, suffered from fatigue and we took the chances that came our way,” underfire coach Okey Emordi told MTNFootball.com

Aba fans also stayed away from Thursday’s rescheduled game even though no gates fees were charged to underline the cloud of disappointment hovering around the club since Sunday’s ouster from the CAF Champions League.

Enyimba were without top stars like skipper Chidozie Johnson, Uche Kalu and Junior Osagie for the win over Kaduna United, but Emordi will leave his door open for any of these players to still be part of the Crown clash.

“I did not have a full complement of my playing staff to choose from, but if they come back, train with the team and are assessed to be in the right frame of mind, they could play. If not, the ones who got the result against Kaduna United will continue,” he disclosed.

Exciting winger Philip Auta was overlooked for the team’s last five games before he returned to score two goals against hometown club Kaduna United.

Crown are second from bottom on the table and are doomed for an instant return to the lower league.

And Enyimba won the first meeting in Ilaro in February 2-1, but Emordi has insisted the Ogbomosho club will not be taken lightly.

“No team is a weak side in the Premier and we are going to handle Crown with respect and earn the result that we deserve,” he said.

“Any team playing against Enyimba puts in more than a 100 percent and that has been our dilemma but I think that we can handle whatever they are coming to Aba with.”
