The Ohimegye of Igu-Kotonkarfe Kingdom, Alhaji Abdulrazak Isah Koto, has said the disputed land which people of Idumose and neighbouring Ogende community are laying claim to was gazetted and belonged to his kingdom.
Alhaji Koto who stated this when he and some members of the traditional council visited the disputed land on Wednesday, said there were court judgments on the disputed land.
He said it behoved on the people of the two communities who shared the same ancestral lineage to live peacefully with one another, noting that farmers from both communities who wanted to cultivate the land could approach the palace for permission.
He further said, “Besides, this disputed land, which the two communities are laying claim to is already gazetted, as there are court judgments on the disputed land, and I want to tell you that this land belongs to the Ohimegye of Igu-Koton Karfe Kingdom,”
He said he wondered how the two communities were claiming ownership of the land, even as he said he was happy that the dispute had been resolved.
According to him, the matter has been in court for over 10 years, saying the only alternative was for both communities to maintain peace with one another.
The monarch called on the communities’ chiefs to ensure thy preached peace to their subjects, saying anyone that was found wanting over the land would be made to face the wrath of the law.
