Rather, Disu urged Siasia to base his starting line-up on the current form of the players and fitness level.

“There were instances in the past when players only came home and sat on the bench when they know they were not actually fit for matches. Such cases should not be allowed to rear its head again because sometimes it blocked the way for other players,” he explained.

He said if the home based players deserved places in the team, they should be allowed to lace their boots for the country, adding that the weather may be in their favour.

Disu said the Ethiopians may turn out to be bad customers and warned Siasia not to underrate them.

“My team had played against them in the past and I know what I am saying, we should remember we are still going to Ethiopia for the return leg, so we need to win well,” he added.

He also asked Siasia not to be allowed be distracted by the authorities as he would be the one to take the blame if he fails.

“He should remember that this is his first assignment and as such should strive to get results and win the confidence of Nigerians,” he explained.

The former Flying Eagles coach however praised the array of players invited for the March 27 cracker at the Abuja National Stadium.
