Josiah who is also the Primate of the African Church, Nigeria and Overseas spoke in Lagos last week on the state of the nation.

The cleric who quoted copiously from the Bible, urged Christians to allow God to fight in their favour, even as he advised them not to exercise any fears in the face of the persistent attacks.

He spoke on the Boko Haram sect’s recent exploits and condemned the killing of over 40 people in a church in Madalla, Niger state. He also condemned the Kano bombings.

He urged Christians in the country to de-emphasize retaliation against the perpetrators of the evil act.

The cleric said, “I implore governments at all levels to seriously find solution to these disasters. They are man-made. Let us live in harmony with one other. Let us put an end to this unwarranted waste of human lives. Why churches? It will be difficult to convince any sane man that it is not a religious affair. Let the government equip the nation’s security agencies adequately with latest equipment.”

Reverend Udofia identified other causes of instability saying unstable government policies are responsible for low performance of the nation’s refineries, Independent Power Projects (IPPs) and regular power supply.

He noted, “Truly speaking, people are hungry. God has blessed us with fertile land. Let us manage it. Government alone cannot do this. All of us must rise up to the task of food provision. The government can only give us all the encouragement by taking the lead and making available start up capital, tools, policies and seeds.”

He urged President Goodluck Jonathan to set a timeline for every policy such that their actual implementation can be properly monitored.

“Except this is done, government policies will remain Paper Tigers. After 51years, we must have a positive change,” the primate emphasied.

On the spiralling unemployment situation in the country, he challenged the government to make the nation’s business environment friendly in order to provide the people the leverage to empower themselves.

He said there is need for Nigerians to give desired premium to agriculture in order to adequately feed themselves.
