The Edo State Police Command has arrested a medical doctor, identified as Festus Ogheghele, over the alleged death of a woman during an operation at a private hospital in Edo State.
It was gathered that the incident happened at a private hospital in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was alleged to have performed a caesarean operation on the victim, Mrs. Susan Omoye Okporan (36) on August 2, 2025.
It was gathered that the woman reportedly developed complications and died shortly after the procedure, but her baby survived.
It was learned that family members of the deceased accused the doctor of gross professional negligence and petitioned the police, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
It was further learned that an autopsy had been conducted, and the result is awaiting interpretation by police medical experts.
The command’s spokesman, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the arrest of the suspect when contacted.
