Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and current Chairman of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC), has extended warm Sallah greetings to Muslims across Nigeria, calling for deeper national unity and a recommitment to service and sacrifice.
Speaking on the spiritual relevance of Eid-el-Kabir, Dogara said the festival reflects profound values that every Nigerian should uphold—obedience to God, empathy for others, and commitment to societal progress.
“The example of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) challenges us to place faith and duty above personal comfort. This is the spirit our nation needs—one that prioritizes the well-being of others,” he said.
In light of his recent appointment to the NCGC Board, Dogara emphasized the importance of economic resilience through support for small and medium enterprises.
“At NCGC, we aim to unlock access to funding for MSMEs through risk reduction and credit enhancement. This is a key driver of job creation and poverty reduction,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to use the Eid season to strengthen national bonds and recommit to peaceful coexistence.
“Religion must be a bridge, not a barrier. Eid-el-Kabir is a time to reflect on our unity as Nigerians and to amplify the values that can move us forward,” Dogara added.
He concluded by calling for prayers for Nigeria’s leaders and peace across the nation.
