Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Board of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC), has expressed profound grief over the passing of Rev. (Dr.) Uma Ukpai, describing him as a spiritual giant, a father in the faith, and a man whose life was wholly devoted to God.

Dogara said the death of the revered evangelist is a monumental loss to the Church and the nation, noting that Rev. Ukpai’s ministry was unique, consistent, and deeply transformative. “His kind of ministry was rare — powerful, authentic, and divinely strange — yet he maintained the same style and focus for decades,” Dogara stated.

He recalled that Rev. Ukpai’s life was a demonstration of faith in action. His teachings, prayers, and unwavering commitment to the gospel inspired millions, while his life remained a living testimony of God’s power, mercy, and grace. “Rev. Uma Ukpai did not merely preach the Word; he embodied it in every aspect of his life,” Dogara added.

The former Speaker also highlighted the evangelist’s role as a mentor and bridge across generations. Through his guidance, counsel, and personal example, Rev. Ukpai nurtured men and women who now carry forward his legacy of revival and spiritual leadership worldwide. Dogara observed that few ministers have remained so faithful to their calling without compromise, and that Rev. Ukpai’s life serves as a model for unwavering devotion to God’s mandate.

He extended his condolences to the family of Rev. Ukpai, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the wider Christian community, praying that God would comfort them and strengthen them to continue the work of faith the late evangelist began.
