A lecturer at the University of Lagos, Dr Charles Onwunali, calls for more efforts to ensure peace in Nigeria.
Onwunali made the call while presenting a lecture during this year’s commemoration of the United Nations International Peace Day with the theme: “Sustainable Development Goals; Building Blocks for Peace,” organised by the Universal Peace Federation, (UPF). He said that the SDGs should tackle the root causes of social tension through redirecting of global resources to create peaceful society.
He said that social inequality had marred some of the successes attained by the SDGs as the gap between the rich and the poor continued to widen within and among nations.
