Niger Delta Watch, a group advocating for safety of oil facility in the region, has asked the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, to disregard what it alleged as a protest sponsored by one Benson Onuwaje few days ago.

Onuwaje had allegedly mobilized protesters to ONSA to alleged that criminal activities are ongoing in the creeks despite awarding security contracts to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.

The protesters had, in their separate remarks, asked ONSA to cancel the contract and award it to another company.

But in a swift reaction, Niger Delta Watch, through Isaac Alfred urged the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu against falling for the antics.

According to its statement, the group alleged that “Benson Onuwaje and his ilks are looking for ways to get back into business after failing in the earlier ones given it. Before now, his company handled most of the anti-bunkering security in the creeks beforre now.

“The protest by Onuwaje and his people are just to scuttle the peace enjoyed currently in the oil-producing states but we know the NSA knows their antics as he is not a novice in that regard. Those people are concerned about causing crisis so as to discredit the current company. That would not work.

“We commend Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and urge the government to continue to support his company. Since it took over surveillance of the pipelines, cases of vandalism, bunkering and others have reduced.”
