The Borno State Chiarman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Prof Shehu Mustapha, has urged Nigerians to avoid those spreading misinformation and campaigns of calumny against the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Prof Mustapha, who said this on Tuesday at the inauguration of the state sub-committee in Maiduguri, noted that campaign should be conveyed in local languages to reach the grassroots.

He charged members of the group to ensure that Nigerians are not allowed to be divided by the elite who weaponise religion and ethnicity to campaign.

He said the mandate of the group is to educate and inform the voters on the dangers of manipulation.

“Don’t allow disinformation, manipulation and misinformation at all. When the political season comes like this, truth is a first casualty. People come with all sorts of misleading information, especially on social media in order to mislead the average voters,” he said.

Also, speaking at the event, Professor of Mass Communication, Danjuma Gambo, enjoined the members to ensure that they create awareness especially at the grassroots and embark on issue-based campaigns.
