The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State command, Mr Bello Ahmed, has assured residents of the state of their safety as preparations reach top gear for the inauguration of Dr Kayode Fayemi as the next governor of the state on Tuesday October 16, 2018.

Ahmed, however, advised the citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious individuals to the police for prompt action.

The police boss promised that adequate security would be provided to ward off criminals before and during the ceremony, and urged the people to be security conscious and refrain from acts that could trigger violence during the ceremony.

Ahmed, in a statement yesterday signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Caleb Ikechukwu, in Ado Ekiti, assured that the transition would be hitch-free and that security men would be on top of the game to ensure that criminals were checkmated.

He said, “We urge Ekiti citizens to be law-abiding and also exhibit hospitality by accommodating their visitors who will be coming into the state for the inauguration.”
