Don’t pay for meter installation, Jos DisCo tells customers

Jos Electricity Distribution

The management of Jos Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo) has called on customers within its franchise states of Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe and Benue not to pay its staff for their property to be metered.

The DisCo explained that meter installation and account opening were free and as such customers should not pay.

The Head of Corporate Communication of the DisCo, Dr Friday Adakole Elijah, who disclosed this in Jos, called on customers to report anybody or staff demanding gratification of any sort for the installation of meter to their regional manager or the corporate headquarters of the company in Jos.

Dr Elijah warned that any staff caught demanding gratification from customers or extorting them would be subjected to serious disciplinary action.

He directed that on no account should customers’ accounts be closed and new ones opened, stressing that any staff caught closing old accounts and opening new ones for the same customers would be severely disciplined.

He urged customers not to panic, as according to him, there are adequate meters that will go round.
