Marketers and dealers in fertilisers in the country have been warned not to sell the government-branded commodity above the stipulated price of N5,000.
The chairman of Presidential Fertiliser Initiative, who is also the governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, issued the warning recently when he visited the Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO).
He said his team was in Kano to see how the fertiliser blending plant operated, adding, however, that it had never failed.
“Since our contact, the KASCO has been performing wonderfully well, it has never failed us. I am also assuring you that the Federal Government would do everything possible to see that a bag of fertiliser stands at the agreed N5,000.
If you come across any marketer selling a bag of fertiliser with KASCO and Federal Government brand name at more than N5,000, report such a person to us and he or she will be dealt with,’’ he assured.
In his remarks, Governor Ganduje thanked the Federal Government for her efforts at diversifying the economy, particularly how agriculture is getting the needed attention.
He recalled how his administration met the KASCO in 2015 and face-lifted the plant with the appreciable production capacity.
