Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahya Jingir, the President, Council of Scholars, Jama’atu Izalatil Bidi’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah National Headquarters, Jos, Plateau State, has appealed to farmers to cease selling cultivated produce to grain hoarders.
In a recent interview with Aminiya, the prominent religious leader stressed the impact this practice could have on the community, particularly in light of the ongoing economic challenges.
Jingir, while expressing concern over the resurgence of grain hoarding activities, emphasized that these individuals are capitalizing on the current affordability of produce, having reaped substantial profits from similar actions in the previous year.
“Farmers, avoid selling the food you have grown to those who hoard it. Let’s exercise patience during these trying times. The food we cultivate will serve us well in the future, especially considering the challenges faced during the last season,” he said.
The Sheikh cautioned those engaged in stockpiling food against such actions, saying hoarding and subsequently inflating prices go against ethical principles and are displeasing to God.
