Doug Kaze (Singer) Stars of the New Curfew by Ben Okri

Afro-soul singer Doug Kaze’s last good read was Ben Okri’s ‘Stars of the New Curfew’. “The magic of his imagination is really phenomenal,” Kaze says, adding that when he was reading the novel, he couldn’t stop asking how a human being could think and create such stories in familiar and strange worlds like Okri did.
Published in 1989, ‘Stars of the New Curfew’ is a collection of short stories where superstition, poverty and irresponsible use of power combine to destroy effective social bonds. The title piece is about a man responsible for a bus crash who flees to his village for refuge. But there he is nearly killed in a power struggle.
